چکیده

The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Responsive Space Testbed initiative is focused on the rapid deployment of tactical satellites. To support this goal we have developed the Satellite Data Model (SDM). Critical to the success of the Satellite Data Model are the autoconfiguration abilities of the SDM. The SDM system allows devices and applications can be developed independently of each other. When the need of a satellite is conceived, components appropriate to that need are selected and added into the system. The SDM then manages the necessary initialization and discovery so that the components can work correctly in concert to form a functioning satellite.

Racing Toward Becoming Operationally Responsive in Space

The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is currently supporting the joint Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) program with two aggressive research space programs. The goal of the ORS program is to improve the responsiveness of space capabilities to meet national security requirements. ORS systems aim to provide operational space capabilities as well as flexibility and responsiveness to the...

Nanosatellite Distributed Satellite Capabilities to Support TechSat 21

A new way to perform space missions utilizes the concept of clusters of satellites that cooperate to perform the function of a larger, single satellite. Each smaller satellite communicates with the others and shares the processing, communications, and payload or mission functions. The required functionality is thus spread across the satellites in the cluster, the aggregate forming a "virtual sa...

Physical Investigation of Space, Dosimetry of Space Ionizing Ray Effect (Van Allen belts, Galactic Cosmic Rays and Solar particles) and Plotting Dose Map for Satellite Circular Missions

One of the main factors for satellite design is simulating of total ionizing dose due to space ionizing rays in devices used in space. By measurement of induced dose based on available data in different altitudes, expenses of designing, satellite weight and amount of needed fuel will be reduced. Optimum design of satellite for protecting satellite against ionizing radiation has considerable eff...

Tactical Satellite 3: Requirements Development for Responsive Space Missions

The Department of Defense is embarking on a broad initiative to make its space programs more responsive. There are many different views of responsive space, but common tenets include no cost and schedule growth within space programs, and space capabilities delivered directly to the operational and tactical warfighter within a theater of war. The Tactical Satellite 3 (TacSat-3) mission success c...
